Dan Amores

Dan Amores is easily Canada's top swing dance leader. He is an articulate teacher, a natural performer and competitor rolled into one. Dan's dance philosophy stresses musicality and momentum, with special attention to the communication between lead and follow. Incredibly versatile, with a wide dance range spanning from raw to lyrical, Dan never fails to make his follower feel like she is the best one out there (and never fails to take other leaders to school). Currently teaching, judging, djing, running events and competing full-time, Dan knows that, really, it’s all about tapping into the heart and soul inside each one of us.

His accomplishments include winning and placing in the highest level of competition at prestigious swing dance events in the United States as well as performances and demonstrations in TV shows, music videos and on stage musical performances.

Joanna Kassoulides

Joanna Kassoulides has quickly become one of the top Lindy Hop follows in Toronto. Her love of the music and her passion of the dance accelerated her progress as a dancer and an instructor. Joanna's past dance training, teaching and leadership skills have transformed her into a mentor to young dancers. Her understanding of natural body movement and dancing style leave leaders and followers in awe.

Her accomplishments include performances and demonstrations for movies, TV shows as well as on stage displays.

Alcina Chiu

Known for her creativity, musicality, and joy on the dance floor, Alcina embodies the essence of swing. Having returned to Toronto after taking her first steps with the Queen's Swing Club, she quickly made a name for herself as an instructor, performer, and social dancer. She enjoys dancing with beginners and advanced dancers alike and wants to help the Toronto scene grow.

Having embraced Nia for its physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health value, Alcina shares this passion with anyone who attends a class. She enjoys the interconnection of music and movement in this fitness form, and is constantly amazed by what she discovers in her body and how it relates to all movement and improves her dancing. As a certified and licensed Nia instructor, she wants to help you do the same.

Vicky Kidd

Vicky Kidd brings an international flavour to Hogtown Swing after moving to Toronto from the United Kingdom, where she had been swinging her way from Sheffield to Edinburgh. Since landing in Canada she soon hunted down the local Lindy Hoppers and quickly integrated herself fully into the scene.

Her dancing is energetic and playful. Her joyfulness is contagious and you'll find yourself drawn into the fun she has on the dance floor and brings to the classroom.

When not dancing or traveling to far off dance events and competitions she can usually be found chatting about her love of the dance over a good cup of tea (she is English after all!)

Vicky is also a Balboa/Bal Swing enthusiast and is a member of the Hogtown Swing Balboa performance group as well as a member of the Sugar Shakers Flappers performance group.

Hogtown Swing is dedicated to the preservation, promotion and progression of authentic jazz dance and is a major contributor of swing dancing in Toronto.
